Pismo Beach

Last weekend, we had a few extra days off, so we took a drive to check out California's central coast. We decided to stay in the oceanfront town of Pismo Beach, which is a small place about 15 miles from San Luis Obispo. We were lucky to find a great hotel on Tripadvisor, that was on a cliff right over the beach. A 5 minute walk brought us down to the ocean.

Ethan loved the beach, and spent a good deal of time running around and building sand castles. It was too cold to swim in the ocean, but the hotel did have a nice heated pool, which Ethan made good use of.

We enjoyed checking out the nearby oceano dunes state park--with massive dunes that you drive on the beach to get to.

We liked the central coast a lot--I have a feeling we'll be back someday!

The latest version of sleeping unzipped...

And not a good one I might add, as it results in a late night sheet-change.

The Green Monster

Ethan has taken a liking to green.
No, that is an understatement. He loves green. We let him pick out his clothes each morning, and here is the outfit he would wear everyday if it was clean:

That's right--fleecy green pants, a green t-shirt and green socks. All in slightly different shades of green.
He is particularly proud of his socks, which are a target $1 special, and have Oscar the grouch on them. Here he is showing them off:

The teachers at his daycare probably think we don't have any clothes for him. Not true, he has a closet full of choices. But he just always wears the green outfit. I guess that his last name is fitting.

Easter Celebrations

A few weeks ago we had a nice Easter. On Saturday, we headed down to the peninsula to go on an Easter egg hunt with Ethan's friend Cruz. This was Ethan's second egg hunt of the season, as we also did one in Chicago when we were visiting. It didnt take Ethan long to learn about the goodies inside the eggs!

On Sunday morning, Ethan found his Easter basket pretty quickly, and had a super healthy breakfast of marshmallow peeps.

Sunday night we had Jason's parents over for dinner....I made a spring sunflower cake...which I must say was quite tasty.
