Sleepover Weekend

We just got back from a very fun weekend.  On Saturday, we headed to the south bay to visit our friends, Sue and Ben, and their son "cousin" Cruz and daughter Whitney!  They also just bought their first home, and we got to be some of their first house guests!

Cruz and Ethan had a blast together--now that they are getting older, their 6 month age difference is hardly noticeable.  Us adults enjoyed catching up.

Today, we went to "A day out with Thomas the Train"--a special event at roaring camp railway in the Santa Cruz mountains, where, for a price, you get to take a ride on Thomas the train.   We met up with some of our other friends and their kids there.

Ethan actually got scared of the train when we arrived, and almost refused to get on, but he made it and by the end was all smiles.

They also had face painting, tattoos and jumpy houses, which the kids loved, and we enjoyed a picnic lunch after the train ride.  We don't have a good picture of Thomas, because the line to take a photo was ridiculously long.  Suffice it to say it looked just like the books.

After a busy morning, and a late sleepover night, Ethan had no trouble napping on the drive home!

Our first furniture

Well, actually, Ethan's first furniture. We figured it was about time to start furnishing the place now that we have been here a few months.  Ethan's bedroom set was the first to arrive.  It is nice to finally have some furniture, and Ethan LOVES his "big-tall bed".  Now we have to work on decorating the walls.

Next month, Jason and I should get our dressers....then we'll tackle the living and dining rooms.  So many projects, such little time!

We also finally got window coverings on our bedroom and front windows so we are no longer living in a fishbowl.  Hooray!

Our first house guest

This weekend, uncle Brandon came into town for Austin, TX.  He stayed with us on Friday night--our first overnight visitor!

Ethan had a lot of fun with his uncle.  On Saturday we had a big barbecue for the whole Greenberg family (also our first big party here) which was a lot of fun.

We were lucky to have nice weather, but not too hot, like the rest of the country has been.  It was fun to host people at OUR house!

HAPPY FOURTH!

Last night we took Ethan to the Marin County Fair. Very much your typical summer county fair (except it only lasts 5 days!) with rides and cotton candy galore. He had a blast -- and rode a ton of rides. When that was over, we were treated to a great fireworks display over the lagoon at the fair. Ethan was a little scared, but I think overall enjoyed it. We forgot our camera so no pics - sorry.

This morning we went to the local American Legion Pancake breakfast followed by a parade. It was a lovely day. There were the standard firetrucks, old WWII jeeps and tanks, bands and in true California fashion, the "existential psychodelic hippie" float. They were pretty cool.

Here is a picture from the parade:
