Our Wild Yard

Since we remodeled last year, our back yard has gone to....the deer!

One of our deer fences came down during construction. We did not have money left for the backyard, and have pretty much "let it go".  We do plan to re-do it, perhaps later this summer, depending on the drought.  Meanwhile, a deer family has moved in.  They seem to enjoy keeping our weeds short and rest under the redwood trees when they are not eating.  The kids certainly get a kick out of watching them.   Last week, a fawn appeared.  It is super cute and playful.
Alas, when then yard does finally get done the deer will be evicted--they eat everything!!
But we will let them stay for now.

Little Girl

Our daughter is losing so much of her baby-ness and really blossoming into a little girl.  She is talking so much more now.  One of her favorite phrases is "I have X at home".  In other words, if we are out at a friends house and she sees a they have a stuffed bear, she will point and say "I have a bear at home".  This can be quite comical when she translates this from the real world into her toy world--for example, when we see a baby and she announces that she too, has a baby at home.  Of course she does, but it is plastic!

She has taught her self how to somersault, and I have to say, she has pretty good form for a 2 year-old!  I think I need to enroll her in a gymnastics class, because she still loves swinging on bars and has taken to balancing on curbs.

Yesterday

, we took her in for her first haircut.  Since we have never cut her hair, it was getting pretty wild and woolly and I figured it was probably time.  She loved it!  All she kept talking about the whole rest of the day was her "haircut".

Mother's Day

We had a very nice mother's day here in Marin.  The kids brought me breakfast in bed, and I even got in a few bites of my own before they joined in.
I then got a wonderful mother's day gift from Ethan: a decorated frame.

Each week in kindergarden they have been studying a letter, and made a sculpey object for each letter.  All of the objects were glued onto a frame with his picture.  Seriously, once of the cutest things I have ever seen.

Jason cooked brunch and his Parents, Brother, Grandma, and Aunt Marcy came over.  We enjoyed eating together and catching up.  Happy Mother's day to all the mom's out there!!
