Holiday Weekend

This weekend, we got to celebrate two holidays: Easter and Passover!

On Friday night, we left the dust bowl that our house has become and headed to Sonoma.  We enjoyed spending the day with Grandma and Grandpa on Saturday, and that night we had a seder.  Alaina seemed to love the Matzoh ball soup!

On Sunday, we headed back to Marin for a birthday party...and what do you know, the Easter bunny came while we were in Sonoma!  A sugar-filled morning for sure.

Meanwhile, construction continues.   They seemed to make a lot of progress this week:  Windows in (except for window over sink, which we we planning of reusing from our old kitchen....turns out it wont work, so we have a new window on order.....).   Our master bath has been gutted, and the second story framing is done:

New Bathroom

 Office reconfigured to accommodate bathroom
Exterior minus kitchen window

Egg Hunt Time

Today I took the kids to an Easter Egg hunt.  Now, Ethan still had a bit of PTSD from last year when I took him to one and he got lost, but this time I made sure he would know exactly where I would be waiting.
The hunt was actually two: an earlier one for 0-2 year-olds; and 15 minutes later one for the older kids.  So Alaina got to collect her first eggs too...and although she couldn't eat the treats inside, she did enjoy playing with them.

Construction Update: Week 4

Well, the kitchen is completely gone.  We moved everything out on Wednesday and it got demolished on Thursday and Friday.   It is pretty cool to see how the space will be.  Of course, now we are living in complete and utter chaos--our entire kitchen contents are on the floor of the dining room, along with our fridge, and our nearest water source is upstairs or in the garage....this is definitely not going to be fun.  Today we went to Trader Joe's and stocked up on microwaveable dinners to prepare for the next ? weeks......

One thing I did not anticipate is how open to the outside our house would be....we are essentially camping--the only thing between us and the great outdoors is a clear plastic sheet.  Luckily the weather has warmed up and the rain seems to be done.....

Pigtails

Alaina's hair is finally getting long enough to (almost) put in pigtails.  I used some clips the other day, and I have to say, it was pretty darn cute.  Of course, they lasted for all of 30 seconds before she pulled them out.

In other Alaina updates, her four top front teeth are almost all the way in.  She is still not walking, but will at least use her push- walker from time to time, and is certainly getting a lot steadier on her feet.

Project update: Week 3
We no longer have a laundry room--it has been gutted and the door from the kitchen now leads outside. Thankfully the washing machine/dryer was relocated to the garage.  The first floor framing is well underway!
