Holiday Concerts

In addition to all the sports activities we have had in December, we also have been busy with music.

Ethan had two holiday concerts.   The first was for the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, which he joined this fall.   He didn't make it into the top ensemble, so his group has a wide range of talent.   They played three songs, which were all ok.   I think the top ensemble was better...

He also had a holiday concert at school, where he is playing in the Jazz ensemble.   This group has far more talent than the orchestra group, and they sounded great.

Alaina will have her fist band concert this winter, looking forward to that!

Its has been fun supporting music-related activities.

December Weekend

December always feels busy but this weekend was packed.   We had 2 soccer games (Ethan), 3 basketball games(Alaina), 2 work Christmas Party (Marla and Jason) and loads of Christmas cookie baking.

For a winter sport, Ethan is playing soccer.   He is on the JV team, since there is not a Freshman team, but he is still getting some plying time and moving well on the field.   One of his games this weekend was even in Marin (though most games are in the city).

Alaina decided to pick basketball up again this winter, playing CYO with other 5th grade girls.   Watching girls is definitely different than boys....one of the final game scores this weekend was 6-8.   They lost.

On Friday night was Marla's work Holiday party at the Univistity club downtown, and it was a nice affair, though quite crowded.

Jason's was on Saturday, at Piccino restaurant in the city, which was smaller and definitely tastier.

So, yes, very busy!

46

This week Jason turned 46!

Hi birthday was on Tuesday--I had to work and Ethan had a soccer game after school, so we all got home a bit late to celebrate.   But we did have a nice dinner.   Sadly for him, no crab yet, as the season is delayed...and no one to join us as his parents are in the desert and my dad was in Chicago.  Hi picked short rib ragu , and I made some focaccia to go with it.  Of course, he had ice cream cake for dessert!

For his birthday, I gave him a new Apple Watch, which he has been eyeing for a year.   His favorite gift, however, was from Alaina, who made him a mug in her art class this trimester.   It is pretty cute!

We spent the weekend after Jason's birthday in Tahoe.   Not too much snow yet (~1.5 feet) but we did do a little skiing and enjoyed some quiet family time together.
